Individual Response Two

 

The second half of this class has been going better than the first half. I have never had to do a group project during an online class before. This second half of the semester, I have been able to do more of the readings and I personally have found them very interesting. Thinking about what was said in each of the chapters, I think this is definitely something I could use in my future. While I was able to read many of the chapters a bit easier than before, I still struggled to fully understand some of the language used in the textbook. I have never been able to fully comprehend what textbooks hold but I do try my hardest too.

 

As for doing the group projects, I still found doing them in an online class to be an interesting experience. I still do not enjoy group projects, whether in person or online. I think these stakeholder challenges were interesting and once I fully understood what exactly we were supposed to do, it was a lot easier to participate. I believe our team communication was much better than it was for the first stakeholder challenge. We were able to get together and communicate on the GroupMe app so it made it much easier to keep in touch with my group members because this class is online.

 

While I do think my participation in the group project could’ve been better, I think my partner's communication could have been better as well. Before the second stakeholder challenge, one of my group members put together a roles and responsibilities chart where we needed to sign up for what role we wanted in the initial challenge post, the design post and the evaluation post. I thought this was a great idea because it then holds everyone accountable for at least one aspect of each part of the stakeholder challenge. Though myself and one other person were the only ones to fill out a few roles and responsibilities. When it came time to actually do each part of the challenge, there was no communication about when something was edited or when something was done. The design challenge was put together by one person instead of getting the entire group's input for the design challenge. The only time everyone was communicating was when it was time to post it to the discussion and who would post it. I really feel like my group's communication could have been better.

 

But my participation is on me. There is no one else to blame but myself. I still continuously forgot to edit or make comments on our google doc before it was posted to the discussion because I was not notified when the challenge, design or evaluation was posted in our shared file either by google drive nor by my group members. I do feel like I participated much more in the second design project because I was able to post the design challenge to the discussion post. I do take full responsibility for my participation in this second stakeholder challenge, although I still feel my group's communication could have been much better overall.
